Corporate Counsel The candidate will provide legal guidance to a leading consumer financial services company on projects in areas such as prepaid products, check cashing, money orders, insurance, collections, and government regulation. Review, draft and negotiate contracts for a wide variety of purposes. Review marketing materials, including social media and digital content. Advise on a variety of topics related to digital commerce, website development, and mobile application development. Responsible for general legal work in areas such as corporate policies and procedures, training, real estate, governmental regulation and others, as dictated by business needs. Support the development and implementation by the legal team of processes, procedures and metrics to increase the overall effectiveness of the legal services provided to the company. The candidate must have Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in Illinois. Must have 4-8 years of practical hands-on experience in a law firm or in-house. Must have previous experience advising management on a wide variety of legal matters, working with outside counsel, and drafting and negotiating contracts. Previous experience with consumer financial services or other highly regulated industry is a plus. Previous experience specifically related to marketing and advertising through digital marketing and social media is a plus. Must possess sound legal and business judgment and have a history of successful dispute resolution. Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must have ability to work well with employees and management at all levels within the company, as well as with outside parties.
