Employment Counsel ?The candidate's duties include: Provide advice and counselling on general employment law matters and HR best practices, including workplace policies and procedures, performance management, compensation and benefits, human resources issues, internal investigations, worker classification, accommodations, terminations, leaves of absence, recruiting and hiring. Work closely with our People team to draft and maintain policies, procedures and handbooks related to employment and compensation matters in each of our domestic and international jurisdictions. Review and prepare internal training materials. Advise on diversity & inclusion programs, employee privacy, employee communications and employee events. Draft and maintain our employment-related agreements, including offer letters, contractor agreements, and separation agreements domestically and internationally. Collaborate cross-functionally on employment aspects of domestic and international expansion activities. Actively support mergers and acquisition activity during both negotiations and post-acquisition integration. Work with People business partners to manage and resolve employment disputes. Identify and assess legal risks and opportunities within the labour and employment area; advise and escalate accordingly, proposing creative solutions. Manage outside counsel, particularly outside the United States, as needed and in a cost-effective manner. Should be an experienced attorney with at least 5 years handling employment law matters at a large law general practice law firm, boutique employment law firm and/or global corporation (preferably a combination of law firm and in-house). Should be comfortable working in an international context, with experience supporting mergers and acquisition activity. Must be knowledgeable about U.S. and international (particularly European) privacy regimes as they relate to employee data.
