Director, Assistant General Counsel - Employment The candidate will develop risk management strategies and supervise the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure programmatic compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., Title VII, ADAAA, FLSA, FMLA and state/local sick leave laws, FCRA, drug testing; enforcement of restrictive covenants, etc.). Provide legal advice and counseling to HR and operational leaders regarding sensitive labor and employment matters. Advise HR professionals on emerging legislative and regulatory changes affecting employment and labor obligations. Review and revise internal policies and procedures to ensure multi-jurisdictional regulatory compliance. Develop and deliver proactive training to business leaders on a wide variety of employment law matters. Supervise external and internal employment counsel with respect to administrative and litigated employment (and, in some instances, non-employment) matters. Draft and negotiate employment-related documents including restrictive covenants. Support HR professionals on compensation, benefits, ERISA and immigration matters.

The candidate should have JD degree from an accredited school with exceptional academic credentials. Should have 15+ years experience in a dedicated employment law practice, either in-house and/or with a national law firm. Preferred relevant experience should include multi-plaintiff and multi-jurisdictional employment disputes. Depth of experience providing multijurisdictional advice and counseling regarding wage and hour laws. Experience litigating collective actions is strongly preferred. Ability to think on your feet in order to independently identify and evaluate employment law risks, in addition to formulating and implementing strategies to mitigate same. Requires significant experience providing strategic advice and counseling to business clients at high levels of the organization. Ability to self-motivate, to work with minimal supervision, and assume significant responsibility in keeping with the level of experience in employment law. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. This position requires fast-paced multi-tasking and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple issues involving business partners in various locations. Experience managing teams of attorneys and paralegals. Active license to practice law in at least one state and ability to become licensed as in-house counsel in Florida. Willingness to contribute to substantive areas outside of labor and employment law. Should possess empathy, excellent professional judgment, and a good sense of humor. May require travel.
