Intellectual Property Counsel Duties Implementing Lam's IP strategy, program, and policies in a cross-functional team environment for Lam's equipment and process technologies. Working with chemistry, physics, RF, software, mechanical, and electrical engineering technologies. Reporting to a Director of Intellectual Property. Collaborating across the broader Legal team to address IP issues in transactions, agreements and disputes. Managing Lam's patent portfolios across one or more business organizations in the US and internationally. Occasional adversarial - litigation, oppositions, freedom to operate etc. - work including risk assessments and IP evaluation.
Qualifications: 3+ years of experience, JD Degree or equivalent, U.S. Patent Bar and depending on hiring location California or Oregon bar or admission to the bar in another US state with ability to join the Oregon Bar or be registered as in-house counsel in California. Background or experience in the semiconductor equipment and/or semiconductor industry with an ability to understand advanced semiconductor fabrication technologies including etch, deposition, and RF. B.S. in a semiconductor related discipline: Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemistry preferred. Be a registered patent attorney, and one who wants to grow into a multi-faceted IP counsellor. Have excellent interpersonal English-language communication skills: written, oral and presentation and be able to distill and communicate the essence of complex IP matters. Have excellent legal and analytical skills coupled with a good business sense. A strong technical background is essential. Be hard-working, dedicated, and motivated with a strong team-oriented approach. Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines. Able to handle pressure. Preferably have experience supporting cross-functional teams and supporting/developing IP programs in a corporate environment. Be intellectually curious, creative, innovative, accessible and approachable.
