Corporate Counsel-Labor & Employment Duties: As a key business partner and leader, will deliver labor and employment law support for Northrop Grumman businesses throughout the United States and international locations. Participate on HR and other leadership teams, provide legal advice to management in various areas of labor and employment law, represent the company in mediations, regulatory agency investigations, audits, and hearings, conduct internal investigations, develop human resource policies and procedures and provide training to human resources and management business partners. Partner across the labor/employment team and broader law department, and with many functional and business stakeholders across the company, including human resources, corporate responsibility, service center operations, security, and with company leadership at all levels in the United States and internationally. As part of the labor and employment law team, provide strategic advice on human resources and business initiatives, advise the company in its compliance with labor and employment laws and regulations, create solutions to mitigate labor/employment legal risk, and defend the company when personnel actions are challenged.

Qualifications: Law Degree from an ABA accredited law school and active bar membership. Member of the State Bar in Virginia, capable of being licensed through testing or comity, or, in lieu of licensure, capable of registering as an in-house counsel in accordance with the rules of the applicable State Bar of Virginia. 12+ years of labor/employment experience at in-house legal department(s), government service, and/or law firm group specializing in labor and/or employment law. Experience counseling clients on a breadth of employment and labor law issues, including federal and state laws on discrimination & harassment, wage & hour, leave of absence, non-compete & non-solicitation, and arbitration. Experience conducting investigations, drafting responses to administrative charges, developing and implementing policies and procedures, preparing and negotiating settlement agreements, and representing companies in employment adversarial matters. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals at all levels and areas within the organization, from executive leadership to first-line supervisors. Familiarity with diverse state labor and employment laws across multiple states. Ability to promote and contribute to a team environment that encourages and supports inclusion to drive innovation and reach the best solutions to complex problems. Ability to self-motivate, work under minimal supervision, and learn new substantive areas within and beyond labor and employment law. Exceptional integrity, outstanding analytical skills and strategic thinking, and exceptional judgment. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in traditional labor law, including ULP, bargaining, CBA administration, and labor arbitration. Experience in advising on international labour law matters involving US Expat assignments and local employees. Experience advising government contractors, including with respect to affirmative action programs, OFCCP and WHD audits.
