Associate Privacy Counsel Duties: Partner with business and functional teams to review new products, features, and other new uses of personal information to ensure compliance with applicable data privacy laws and industry practices. Work with engineering and product teams to conduct data privacy impact assessments and to ensure that privacy-by-design is embedded into Stryker's product development processes. Collaborate with colleagues within the Global Legal and Compliance, IT, HR, and other relevant functions, to drive compliance programs for privacy and security, including HIPAA, CCPA, and other federal and state privacy requirements, and to develop and implement standards, policies and processes related to privacy and data protection. Develop and conduct general and role-specific privacy trainings, to promote a privacy-first culture within the organization. Provide support to various teams across the organization on privacy legal matters, including areas related to partnerships, acquisitions, integrations, and other business development opportunities. Stay abreast of, and advise on, regulatory and industry developments, including monitoring trends in privacy and security laws, regulations, and public policy. Maintain and update privacy policies and privacy notices as required or appropriate. In conjunction with partners from IT Security, assist in supporting investigations into privacy and security.
Qualifications: JD Degree and member in good standing of at least one state Bar. 4+ years experience focusing on privacy matters at a large firm or in-house practice. Preferred Qualifications: CIPP/US certification is preferred. Fluency in Privacy-by-Design and privacy engineering and technical terminology; experience working directly with product engineers is preferred. Superior critical thinking skills, with a strong bias towards action and execution. Must be an independent and strategic thinker who is a strong team player and willing to take on additional responsibilities. Enjoy working in a rapidly changing, disruptive business with experience providing timely advice in a highly regulated environment. Must be able to work independently and remotely with partners and stakeholders across the U.S. and globally. Superb organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once.
