Senior Counsel, Government Investigations & Special Matters

Senior Counsel, Government Investigations & Special Matters The candidate will manage and lead strategy for a diverse range of regulatory and government investigations and related litigation in numerous jurisdictions globally, covering a multitude of substantive areas (securities, competition, privacy, corruption, and other general business practices). Work cross-functionally with other legal teams and with the business to ensure goal and strategy alignment. Interact with regulatory and government authorities and work to efficiently resolve investigations and enforcement actions. Take a hands-on approach to all facets of government investigations, including responding to subpoenas and discovery requests from regulators; leading document preservation efforts; analyzing and formulating investigative plans; drafting and revising legal briefs; interviewing and preparing witnesses for testimony; and negotiating and drafting settlements. Supervise all aspects of outside counsel relationships, including staffing, litigation and investigations strategy, budgets and invoices, compliance with outside counsel guidelines, and work product. Support and manage enforcement actions deriving from regulatory and government investigations (both civil and criminal), as required. Identify, review, analyze and mitigate legal risks. Should have 8+ years of experience as a practicing attorney. Must have J.D. and license to practice law in at least one state. Should preferably have 10+ years of experience in broad trial, litigation, and government investigations experience (criminal and civil). Substantial experience with both state and federal government investigations from various agencies desired. Prior government investigations experience in the private practice setting and with either the U.S. Department of Justice or a state Attorney General's office; government trial experience is a plus. Substantive knowledge of privacy, securities, competition, and anti-corruption laws; familiarity with international employment and privacy laws is a plus. Familiarity with e-discovery issues, including document retention policies and procedures as well as collection, review, and production of documents.
