Senior Corporate Counsel-Cox Business Duties: Serves as a legal partner the provider of phone, video, Internet, transport, and cloud services to 400k+ small, medium and large commercial retail and wholesale customers. Will be responsible for collaborating across multiple business groups and practice areas. Will be a senior-level and independent attorney responsible for managing a broad portfolio of agreements in a fast-paced environment including providing legal advice, drafting and negotiating contracts, assisting with risk mitigation and compliance with applicable laws, and managing outside counsel. Reports to the Assistant General Counsel of Business. Lead legal support for a variety of Cox Business sales agreements with responsibilities for supporting many of largest and most strategic deals. Must be able to provide legal support for a broad portfolio of commercial contracts. Advise and provide guidance on legal risks and exposures, providing creative and legally sound solutions for risk mitigation and to resolve issues presented in contract negotiations. Identify issues and partner with applicable subject matter experts for guidance, including, but not limited to the following: other in-house attorneys (ex. Cox employment, litigation, and IP counsel teams), Supply Chain, Information Security, Privacy, Risk Management, Finance, and internal business stakeholders to ensure exceptional legal service and anticipate special needs during contract negotiations. Provide legal counsel and advice to ensure compliance with laws and regulations applicable in coordination with subject matter experts, including on government laws and regulatory requirements. Establish and maintain detailed knowledge of products/services/brands and of the nuances of relationship with some of its most strategic customers. Identify and lead solutions to address difficult problems or inefficient operations that may not be solved using existing practices and procedures; may have to respond and adapt to changing conditions or circumstances, requiring enterprise alignment and new approaches. Train and indirectly manage attorneys, paralegals, interns, and other resources and assist in the development and growth of same. Effectively manage outside counsel to ensure efficient and cost-effective legal support. Develop and implement contract template updates, with a focus on creating a more efficient contracting process. Provide legal counsel and advice on a broad range of other day-to-day operational legal topics related to commercial transactions, including, without limitation, (i) provide key strategic advice on existing and new customer relationships and business initiatives; and (ii) assist in complex legal matters, such as partnering with client and other in-house attorneys in the creation of proactive strategies related to various matters.

Qualifications: JD degree, a member in good standing of at least one state Bar. 10+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney. In-house experience preferred. Proven experience providing legal counsel for an established corporate sales department, including drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements in a fast-paced environment. Experience in the communications and/or technology industry, and support of a complex sales organization is a plus. Experience providing legal support for an established complex sales organization, strong background in general corporate matters (including drafting, negotiating, and interpreting contracts), robust experience across a wide range of subjects within sales, including review of RFPs and experience with complex large sales negotiations, and will have a demonstrated ability to identify, explain, and mitigate risks or impediments to sales an ever-changing environment. Having experience with communications, technology, dark fiber, IRUs, cloud services, E-Rate, and Federal, State, and Local Government sales is a plus. In addition, will have experience engaging and managing outside counsel in an effective and efficient manner. Must be able to work across different affiliates, including RapidScale, BluePrint RF, Hospitality Network and UPN to align with their company directives and goals. Ability to manage outside counsel. Ability to partner with subject matter experts and other in-house attorneys to provide a seamless experience to internal clients in addressing and resolving legal issues. Business-minded attorney with strong initiative, excellent client counseling, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. A business partner, who likes working side-by-side with business teams and is receptive to opposing views. A focus on client needs with a commitment to timing, quality, and client service. A strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize and follow through on numerous projects simultaneously.
