Senior Counsel - Employment Law Responsibilities: Provide advice on full range of employment law issues, including hiring, discipline, termination, compensation and benefits. Draft employment contracts, separation agreements and other employment documentation relating to employee population, some based outside of the United States. Review and provide guidance on drafting and development of HR policies and procedures globally. Lead or provide assistance with internal investigations. Defend, supervise and manage employment related claims and litigation, including managing outside counsel, responding to administrative charges, complaints, attorney's letters, settlement demands and claims globally. Negotiate appropriate resolutions to claims and other pending matters. Provide support to maintain, determine and/or remediate legal compliance issues impacting the company's global operations from a total employment law, compensation and benefits perspective. Assist in developing, implementing, improving and reviewing legal compliance projects and training. Assist with preparing or conducting training programs. Assist and support all aspects of MetLife's M & A activities as they relate to employment matters. Provide, at times, advice and counsel in the area of global mobility, expatriate and international assignments and global immigration matters.
Qualifications: JD degree and New York bar membership. 7-8 years of relevant labor and employment experience required. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to deliver solution-oriented advice. Preferred: Experience handling international employment matters, including experience with Works Councils and Unions in foreign countries, a strong plus.
