Legal & Compliance - Attorney Data Science, Vice President The candidate's duties include: Work collaboratively and productively with lawyers, compliance professionals and business professionals within Blackstone and externally to achieve successful outcomes; Review and negotiate contracts and licenses, other submissions and reporting documents from a legal, regulatory and compliance perspective; Conduct or supervise due diligence of acquisitions of data and respond to questions from investors, third parties or others about Blackstone's acquisition and use of data; Maintain compliance policies, processes and standards, including maintenance of data acquisition, use and distribution compliance programs and data inventories; Provide legal and compliance support and advice regarding data models, data repositories, transfer and distribution of data products and implementation of automated or algorithmic data processing; Assist in assessing current and future applicable legal and compliance developments and communicating these updates to legal, compliance and business personnel; Assist with and support other day-to-day legal and compliance matters and processes associated with the data science and services programs as needed; Prepare, coordinate, or deliver legal and compliance training regarding privacy and data acquisition, use, distribution and associated activities. An undergraduate degree and a law degree are required. Experience with hedge funds, asset management or data-driven sell-side research firms is preferred. Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced environment related to a growing and global business. Strong academic credentials. Knowledge of alternative data marketplaces, data licensing terms and experience with data provenance analysis and diligence on alternative and exhaust data. Knowledge of global data privacy regimes including GDPR, CCPA, GLBA, FCRA, global legal and regulatory data transfer mechanisms and data de-identification and pseudonymization techniques. Understanding of trademark and copyright law as applied to data acquisition and use. Understanding of regulatory frameworks associated with the use of data in deal sourcing and investment management by alternative investment advisors. Understanding of cloud technology, SaaS environments, big data, and legal, regulatory and ethical aspects associated with algorithmic decision-making and machine learning. Sharp intellect and ability to understand difficult, complex compliance and business issues required. Critical attention to detail and analytical skills required. Strong drafting and organizational skills required. Strong technical skills, sharp intellect, and ability to understand difficult, complex compliance and business problems required. Excellent organizational skills and follow-through required. Outstanding record of academic achievement and professional accomplishment required.
