Assistant Contracts Counsel - Attorney The candidate will have responsibility for advising Mercy business or operations personnel in matters of contract drafting, negotiation, and compliance with contractual healthcare legal requirements. Specifically, the assistant contracts counsel will draft and review business, consultant contracts, including but not limited to healthcare services contracts, supply chain agreements, business associate agreements, data management agreements, data use agreements, and non-disclosure agreements. Additional areas include a broad range of legal areas affecting Mercy's services and operations such as antitrust, tax, employment law, physician practice acquisitions; hospital operational support; health care risk management; clinical-related issues; regulatory compliance; medical staff and accreditation; clinical affiliation agreements; managed care contracting; real estate and construction; and health care reform and reimbursement and/or legal governance support for one or more Mercy affiliates. Will be a combination of more senior attorneys and a limited number of business or operations personnel for which subject matter expertise is being provided. The Assistant Counsel generally provides legal analysis and recommendations for strategies and approaches to more senior counsel within the legal department. 5+ more years experience as a practicing attorney with at least three (2) years of health care experience and specialized experience in one of more of the following areas: antitrust, tax, employment law, physician practice acquisitions; hospital operational support; health care risk management; clinical-related issues; regulatory compliance; medical staff and accreditation; clinical affiliation agreements; contracting; real estate and construction; and health care reform and reimbursement. JD - Doctorate of Jurisprudence are required. Membership in the Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, or Kansas Bar or eligibility for immediate admission are required.
