Senior Legal Counsel, Environmental The candidate will responsible for providing legal support on complex environmental matters at petroleum and renewable fuels facilities. Such legal support includes compliance assistance, interpretative guidance, and management of enforcement cases. The position requires heavy interaction with Delek's business units and facilities, governmental agencies, and outside counsel. Provides professional legal advice, counsel, and guidance, to ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental and land use regulatory requirements, including water, air, waste, toxics, wetlands, endangered species, land use planning, and environmental review. Advises management of the environmental legal aspects of the Company's operational and transactional activities, including securing permits, handling permit appeals and due diligence reviews. Advises regarding wide variety of regulatory matters for all aspects of energy including OSHA, RFS Program, gasoline regulations, DOT, FERC, and PHMSA with assistance from outside counsel. Assists with environmental initiatives relating to alternative energy and decarbonization projects. Plans and develops solutions to existing or potential legal problems involving the Company, and advises management concerning its legal rights and obligations. Develops and implements programs, presentations, publishes information, and participates in other activities to educate Company officers and employees as to Company policies and procedures and legal compliance requirements. Participates in continuing legal education programs and other activities as necessary to keep informed of developments in the law, new and proposed statutes and regulations, economic and social issues, and other matters of interest to the Company and the energy industry. Juris Doctor (JD) Degree with strong academic performance, Admission and good standing in at least one state (if not Tennessee, then eligibility for the Tennessee In-House Counsel Limited Licensure) are required. Ability to quickly and accurately recognize areas of risk/opportunity., Excellent communication skills, both speaking and writing. Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills are required.
