Counsel - Litigation Duties: Manage litigation matters affecting all divisions and business units across the company. Advise on litigation procedure and strategy and provide direct oversight and/or management of matters where appropriate. Support intake and direction of legal service (e.g., complaints, subpoenas, court orders, regulatory inquiries) directed to Albertsons. Demonstrate strong legal research, writing and presentation skills. Review substantive pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other legal documents. Develop, execute, and continuously assess Albertsons litigation strategy and tactics, including providing thought leadership, strategic direction and proactive solutions. Engage and manage outside counsel to effectively and efficiently represent Albertsons. Work collegially and supportively with other members of legal team. Exercise sound legal judgment and act as a key partner for internal business stakeholders; act independently and prioritize tasks while considering relevant risk, business and objectives. Support the Company's diversity objectives.
Qualifications: JD Degree from an accredited law school with proven academic success. Licensed to practice law and in good standing with the Bar of any state. 4-7 years of legal experience in litigation at a law firm or in-house legal department. Organizational experience and strategic thinking, and experience advancing projects in a multi-stakeholder environment. Sound business judgment and client counseling experience. Careful attention to detail and strong quality of work product. Proactive, enthusiastic and innovative team player with a strong work ethic. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate, compromise and demonstrate diplomacy in sensitive situations and to interact effectively with senior management; ability to uphold the highest standards of discretion and confidentiality. Respectful of individual differences; ability to recognize, to value and to seek out diverse viewpoints; understand the impact of one's behavior on other cultures and able to adapt appropriately; promote and leverage diversity among employees, vendors and guests.
