Counsel - Labor, Employment & Litigation Duties: Providing labor and employment-related legal advice and counsel to human resource department; Negotiating, drafting, and reviewing agreements related to labor/employment; Creating, drafting and reviewing company human resource, legal and compliance-related policies and employee handbooks; Handling agency filed charges of discrimination including preparing positions statements/correspondence; Managing employment related claims, litigation and labor arbitrations; Drafting, sending and monitoring legal holds; Serving as a resource to the company's labor relations manager providing support at bargaining sessions and/or in the development of strategies and positions for bargaining; Providing defense and counsel on grievances, responding to union requests for information, unfair labor practice charges, union avoidance and de-certification issues; Providing advice on employee immigration issues and assisting with immigration-related matters; Providing legal advice and counsel on employee benefits matters; Identifying and developing appropriate compliance and regulatory strategies to ensure company-wide compliance with applicable federal, state and local employment laws, (e.g. wage and hour, leave laws, OFCCP, EEO); Providing direct advice and counsel to company locations experiencing Department of Labor (or other agency) investigations and audits including OSHA inspections; Developing and providing training on labor and employment topics; Directing investigations of workplace employee relations concerns, including but not limited to EEO, workplace violence and alleged violations of the Bunge's Code of Conduct; Performing employment and benefits-related due diligence in connection with mergers, acquisitions and other strategic transactions and review of related provisions in definitive documentation; Research and update on local, state, federal and provincial labor & employment related laws, rules and regulations. Assisting in a wide range of commercial disputes and commercial and tort litigation, including witness preparation, depositions, discovery, fact gathering and analysis, case management conferences, motion practice and e-discovery; Participating in the establishment of legal holds and issuance of preservation notices and maintenance (updating) of the record retention policy and schedule; Serving as an administrator (and power user) for legal department resources including the record retention web-based tool, provide training to records custodians, and coordinate compliance with the record retention policy; Managing responses to third party subpoenas and evaluate and prepare claims for class actions; Effectively and collaboratively working with other attorneys and professionals within BNA's legal department, identifying labor or employment matters that might require awareness or assistance on behalf of other attorneys and professionals with primary responsibilities for one of the company's separate businesses; Maintaining and improving legal, business and administrative skills and knowledge by monitoring developments in all relevant fields of law and participating in approved professional and industry associations; and Working with, managing, and ensuring cost effective services from outside counsel.

Requirements: JD Degree from a nationally-recognized law school and a license to practice in Missouri (or willingness to apply for admission from another state); 3 - 5 years of hands-on experience in labor, employment and commercial and tort litigation matters, including investigations and discovery; Corporate in-house legal experience working closely with or supporting a human resources department preferred; Experience with California and Canada labor and employment laws is a plus; Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization; Knowledge of Microsoft Office solutions, e-billing and matter management tools (Legal Tracker), document management systems, and Adobe.
