Senior Counsel - Data Governance and Privacy Duties: Organize and lead cross-functional teams in planning, development, and execution of Data Governance and privacy oriented business processes. Work with data owners, data stewards and business users to implement a Data Quality program for, including documenting key data processes, identification of critical data elements, establishment of authorized data sources and effective data controls to provide confidence in data. Position will be responsible for key data process controls and certification processes. Ensure adherence to corporate standards and global privacy and data protection laws including GDPR, CCPA, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, GLBA, PIPEDA, and LGPD. Provide leadership and overall coordination for the Enterprise Data Governance Organization and Stewardship organizations for, including management of current steering committee and data working group activities. Is responsible for all data-related policy creation & annual updates, including use, retention, deletion, and sharing of data and data analytics. Provide oversight for data initiatives and ensures communication of Data Governance program performance. Ensure that corporate data use initiatives comply with regulatory and contractual requirements.
Qualifications: JD degree. CIPP-US and/or CIPM with in-depth knowledge of Data Management, Privacy and Data Governance. 5-10 years of experience doing the following: Building programs and policies around global regulatory frameworks, including GDPR, CCPA, and the EU ePrivacy Directive and forthcoming regulation, and familiarity with industry best practices for collection and use of data. Serving as legal counsel for fintech, financial services, and/or industry and background operating in a highly regulated environment. Working with consent management platforms, data management platforms (DMPs), ad tech (SSPs, DSPs, etc.), programmatic advertising, consent strings, cookies, website and mobile application functionality. Working as part of a team of data professionals and business data Subject Matter Experts. Monitoring change processes and measuring results to ensure success. Meeting time-sensitive commitments with the highest standards of ethics and integrity. Experience working with consumer permissioned financial data and data aggregation preferred.
