Litigation and Internal Investigations Attorney The candidate will advise on and manage litigation, internal investigations, and other risk and governance-related matters. Will report to the Deputy General Counsel for Litigation, Investigations and Enterprise Operations. Oversee and conduct internal investigations, including matters arising from whistleblower / Ethicspoint reports. Advise and support the bank's Financial Intelligence Unit in matters relating to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering and fraud. Advise and support Human Resources on employee relations matters, and oversee and manage employment-related litigation. Oversee and manage litigation arising from the company's Private Bank, and other litigation matters as necessary. Assist with litigation and investigations arising out of EMEA region and other international offices. Advise senior management and the Board of Directors on matters relating to Environmental, Social and Governance criteria. Advise and support Risk Management team on matters relating to insurance coverage and claims.
The candidate should have a J.D. degree from a top-tier school and have excellent academic credentials. Must have 8+ years of applicable legal experience (either in-house, law firm or government). Should have strong litigation, investigative and crisis management skills, including the ability to identify and grasp facts and issues quickly. Must have active membership in good standing in at least one State Bar, preferably California or New York. Should have willingness to work on a broad range of legal matters/topics and to learn new areas.
