Intellectual Property Counsel

Intellectual Property Counsel The candidate will report to the Head of IP. Responsibilities will include drafting and prosecution global patent portfolio in immunology and cell therapy areas; conducting freedom to operate and patentability assessment; reviewing and negotiating the IP provisions in agreements; providing IP support to a broad range of groups including R&D, Corporate Development, and external collaborations; and working collaboratively with the legal department and cross-functional groups around the globe. Draft and prosecute patent applications (US and foreign patent offices). Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of assigned projects. Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate reviews. Counsel research and colleagues on patent portfolio and strategy. Review and assist in the drafting of nondisclosure, research, license and other agreements involving the use, transfer, or ownership of intellectual property. Review proposed publications and potential invention disclosure. Provide support for in-licensing and acquisitions. Juris Doctorate and admission before a State bar (or fully qualified legal credentials in geography of operations) Registered before the USPTO. 8+ years of industry and/or law firm experience/ Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Immunology, Life Science, pharmaceutical or related sciences; advanced degree is preferred. Solid understanding of genetic, protein, antibody, and recombinant technologies; experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries preferred. Experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting searches and diligence analysis.. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to identify legal issues and seek solutions. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team setting. Efficient, organized, and able to handle short timelines in a fast-paced environment. Strong client service orientation.
