Director, Corporate Counsel, Data Privacy DUTIES: Will work as a member of the Commercial legal team in the Law & Corporate Affairs Department to provide legal advice and services in collaboration with Global Privacy stakeholders across the organization and across jurisdictions (US, CAN, LATAM, CAP, EMEA). Provide day-to-day legal support and advice to marketing, technology, and data privacy compliance organizations including review and drafting of commercial contract terms, privacy notices, policies, and standards. Provide legal support and guidance in response to privacy and security incidents, coordinate internal and external legal resources globally to maximize productivity and efficiency. Participate in governance and cross-functional groups that oversee privacy and security controls/safeguards; support risk assessments; and drive the resolution of risks/issues, including by escalating key issues to leadership, cross-functional partners, and governance bodies. Advise cross-functional project teams (with legal and non-legal partners) to identify new legal requirements, obligations, and best practices introduced by specific regulations and regulatory trends and help define and scope solutions. Clearly and concisely communicate strategic legal counseling to business and compliance teams. Establish highly collaborative relationships with business and compliance teams and with other legal department partners to provide cross-functional support for the organization. Acts as a trusted advisor. Help advance business objectives and mitigate risk by acting as a trusted advisor whose strategic thinking, business acumen, pragmatic problem-solving, and proactive counsel are sought out by stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a J.D. degree from an accredited law school; a license to practice law in pertinent jurisdictions; and a privacy or compliance accreditation. CIPP/CIPM or comparable privacy certification is desirable. Should have 9+ of relevant substantive legal experience in a law firm or company legal department. Must have experience in managing outside counsel to ensure efficiency and fiscal prudence; managing cross-functional teams or projects; and advising businesses with international and/or complex corporate entities. Must have a deep knowledge of global privacy and consumer protection laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially those relevant for technology, retail, and food service companies; and sophisticated interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage cross-functional teams in partnership with marketing, technology, and compliance professionals at all levels within the organization. Must be a highly self-motivated team player who can work independently with minimal supervision.
