Insurance Defense Trial Attorney The candidate will manage the entire legal process, from investigation and discovery through trial prep and court proceedings representing clients in depositions, site inspections, court hearings, trials, etc. and negotiating settlements as required. Research all applicable laws and findings, develop appropriate legal strategies for all stages of litigation and share them with claims representatives and insured clients. Establish and maintain good relationships with claims representatives and clients, and occasionally conduct training sessions for Legal, Claims or other departments. Develop and render clear, unambiguous legal opinions and strategies, and draft legal documents including pleadings and motions. Provide guidance and direction to junior attorneys, prepare and conduct training sessions for the legal and claims departments and collaborate with colleagues who are remotely located. Should have a JD degree and a Membership in the California Bar; appropriate special licenses to practice before boards or federal courts is preferred. Must have 6 years of successful experience as an attorney. General knowledge of insurance law is required. Familiarity with the latest developments in the practice of law, as well as pertinent knowledge in related fields is needed. Persuasive oral and written communication skills are necessary. Proficiency with technologies that reduce costs and facilitate the practice of law and remote work is a must. Should have a talent for cultivating strong working relationships with internal and external partners. Must have an aptitude for detail-oriented, analytical thinking.
