Employment Attorney The candidate will report to the Group's President and Shareholder. Cultivate strong and positive relationships with member companies. Demonstrate a strong commitment to the company's vision and values. Provide legal counsel and guidance on all aspects of federal and state employment laws. Write content for our newsletter and online media sources in a clear, non-legalistic style for business people. Develop, revise, and update our legal resources with accurate explanations and practical advice. Represent members in response to Federal and State administrative claims and audits (e.g., discrimination charges from EEOC, Oregon BOLI, or Washington HRC; wage and hour claims from DOL, Oregon BOLI, or Washington L&I; affirmative action audits by OFCCP, etc.). Conduct third-party investigations (typically of harassment or discrimination claims) as requested by member companies. Collaborate with other attorneys of the Law Group to meet team goals and objectives. Conduct training and presentations on various employment law issues.
The candidate must have Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school. Should have an active membership in good standing of the Oregon or Washington State Bar. Must be licensed to practice law in Oregon or Washington, with the expectation of getting licensed in both states within 2 years of employment. Should be adaptable, collaborative, and drawn to the values that serve as a strong foundation to the company. Must have a strong work ethic, and a keen legal mind. Must have the ability to develop strong, trusted relationships with peers and member companies. The ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are needed. Must be able to explain laws, regulations, and court decisions in a way that is easily understandable by the average business person. Must be able to tailor legal advice to the business objectives and culture of each member company, so the members understand their options and risks in deciding how to proceed. Effective time management and organizational skills are required. Must be skilled in developing and delivering legal training and presentations. Applications Deadline: August 16, 2021.
