Associate General Counsel, Privacy Messenger The candidate to lead company's Legal Privacy Team supporting privacy issues in our core messaging product, Messenger. This role is product-focused and the ideal candidate will be eager to roll up their sleeves and problem-solve on complex, strategic, privacy-forward issues, working closely with cross-functional partners and other legal teams to develop innovative compliance solutions to support these suites of products and services. It's an opportunity to lead on some of company's most critical and challenging issues around messaging. Will be joining a collaborative team of privacy lawyers who identify, evaluate and address privacy risk in light of privacy laws, compliance obligations and policies, train on privacy matters, and collaborate closely with other legal teams as well as cross-functional privacy partners to deliver legal advice globally. Manage a small but mighty team of privacy attorneys advising on company messaging privacy issues. Drive strategies for high-profile and high-impact projects involving privacy analysis and compliance with cross-functional stakeholders across company's business, product, engineering, policy, legal, communications, security, and other departments. Interface and build strong relationships with product leadership to educate and partner on privacy issues together. Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in areas of data use and global privacy laws (including state and federal consumer protection and privacy laws, GDPR, LGPD, ePrivacy and other global privacy laws) and advise on the impact of the same on company's business. Assist product lawyers in evaluating the practical impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on product features and development. Develop regulatory strategy with relevant privacy regulators in connection with new product features and initiatives and maintain company's ongoing privacy-by-design processes. Manage internal privacy compliance programs and processes to ensure meet obligations under those programs. Help to develop and conduct role-specific privacy trainings. Should have J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar. 8+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house experience is required. Must have experience advising on privacy legal risks and mitigations, with knowledge of relevant global privacy laws (including CCPA, GDPR, ePD, LGPD, etc.), privacy regulations and industry guidelines. Should have business judgment and practical client counseling experience. Should preferably have Experience collaborating and advancing projects in a multi-stakeholder environment. Experience leading a team of attorneys and set employee goals and objectives is desired. Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and making judgments under deadline is preferred. Should preferably have experience independently, quickly and accurately assess legal, practical, and business risks, and provide clear guidance.
