Legal Counsel - Real Estate Duties: Take immediate responsibility for basic real estate matters (lease amendments, letters of intent, amending contractor, architect and other development agreements, and related legal and compliance issues). Lead real estate transactions and new leases under supervision. Lead various aspects of real estate administration (closing checklists, lease, and purchase agreement summaries, key date trackers, and commencement date memoranda). Advise internal clients on real estate issues for our construction, development, retail, home office, hospitality, and supply chain teams, such as contract drafting and interpretation. Provide general operational advice based on lease provisions. Advice on legal aspects of Company transactions and operations, including commercial transactions and other matters. Support Supervising Attorney with respect to transactional, litigation, bankruptcy, regulatory, and compliance work. Review, negotiate, draft, and advise on all types of contracts involving Company arrangements with contractors, vendors, landlords, subtenants, sellers, and other parties related to real estate matters. Work with associates across the Company's business divisions and affiliates on a variety of business and legal matters. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Supervising Attorney or other Company officers. Assist in reviewing insurance provisions as it relates to real estate and construction matters, including bonding. Support the various businesses associated with the real estate development transaction including alcohol licensing and permitting.
Qualifications: Must have a JD from an accredited law school. Must be a member of the California State Bar and in good standing. 2+ years of experience as a real estate attorney. Effectively identify, promote, and apply technologies to maximize efficiency in carrying out assignments. Oversee a broad range of projects of varying degrees of complexity, adapting procedures as needed to meet business needs. Proactively suggest appropriate and/or unique solutions. Experienced with large or complex transactions with multiple parties and leading teams. RH's Legal Department is highly collegial with a strong team spirit. Strong proficiency in proofreading. Deadline and detail-oriented. Ability to prioritize and multitask multiple projects simultaneously. Must be proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive, and Outlook. Experience with a nationally recognized top-tier law firm is highly preferred. International experience is a plus.
