Privacy & Data Counsel Duties: Support the compliance priorities and advance the strategic goals established by the CPO. Provide legal counsel to the Company Global and its subsidiary businesses on privacy and data protection and related areas including Privacy by Design discussions during the development of products and services. Track legal developments in the area of privacy and data protection and assist in determining the applicability to the Company s business. Support commercial contracting by reviewing and negotiating commercial terms. Otherwise, support the Company s legal team as needed.
Minimum Qualifications: Admitted to the Bar. 1-3 years of experience as an attorney. Familiar with online marketing and advertising technology. Deep working knowledge of CCPA and the GDPR. Familiar with CAN-SPAM, CASL, TCPA, COPPA, and security breach notification laws. Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing, and via Powerpoint with legal, technical, and business audiences. Organized and drives projects to completion with minimal supervision. Ability to synthesize vague or poorly defined legal rules into coherent legal positions and give practical, implementable advice. Ability to engage confidently with business executives, clients, and opposing counsel. Self-directed, but collaborative; team-focused attitude. Preferred Qualifications: CIPP Certification. Deep knowledge of U.S. financial services privacy rules - GLBA, FCRA, CFPB, etc. Previous experience working as in-house counsel, particularly at a tech start-up. Understands the EU legal system, GDPR, and the e-Privacy Directive. Work history or internship with privacy groups like FPF, CDT, EFF, NAI, DAA, etc.
