Intellectual Property Counsel for Diagnostics Duties: Be an integral part of the laboratory diagnostics business, with a focus on molecular-based testing, and drive decisions concerning IP issues together with the business leadership, R&D organization, business development, strategy and legal department. Develop and drive the implementation of an IP strategy for the business line, including the preparation, filing and prosecution of patents, trademarks or copyright applications internally and via outside counsel. Ensure freedom to operate by implementation of appropriate defensive IP measures and by providing expert legal advice in connection with product IP clearances and patent investigations actively support IP litigations and M&A transactions (and associated due diligence activities) for the business line as necessary.
Qualifications: JD Degree from an accredited institution, with admission to practice in a U.S. state and before the USPTO. Experience and/or background in medical diagnostics, particularly in the field of molecular (nucleic acid) testing, is preferred. years of experience as a practicing attorney experienced in intellectual property, including in prosecution, counselling, clearances and IP-related agreements. Excellent inter-personal communication skills and a keen ability to interact effectively. Work effectively in a fast-paced, small-team environment with a willingness to expand skill sets. Complete projects and assignments and provide support to R&D and business leadership, in a global environment. Outstanding organizational skills and can manage multiple competing demands. Creative problem solver.
