Corporate Counsel- Medical Professional Liability Unit Responsibilities: Receive and investigate adverse occurrences and potential compensatory events, medical malpractice claims, patient complaints and highly sensitive billing disputes and analyze for risk liability exposure. Manage medical malpractice claims and collaborate with defense attorneys on strategy recommendations. Oversee all responses to Discovery for medical malpractice claims. Review responsive pleadings and dispositive motions. Collaborate with the Clinical Services Division and Operations with tracking/trending adverse outcomes and medical malpractice claims to improve quality of care and advance patient safety. Prepare materials and participate in claims committee, operational and clinical meetings. Evaluate medical malpractice claims history of healthcare professionals through the New Hire, Re-credentialing, or Due Diligence process. Correspond and communicate claim status with involved parties and the Senior Director of MPL Claims and Litigation and provide recommendations for resolution of claims.
Qualifications: Attorney licensed in the United States with 1-4 years related medical malpractice experience. RN degree desirable. Strong verbal/written communication skills required, along with proficiency with computer software systems.
