Senior Counsel, Privacy & Data Protection Duties: Provide day-to-day privacy advice to the product and sales teams as well as the commercial legal team. Ensure products are developed and sold/contracted in compliance with global privacy & data-related laws applicable to fraud and identity verification. Lead integration effort for to fully align with privacy and data protection policies and procedures, including among other things performing Data Protection Impact Assessments in line with Privacy by Design process. Develop privacy policies that address data usage as well as privacy and data protection requirements, all in the context of global privacy and data protection standards. Develop contract structures that address data usage as well as privacy and data protection requirements and lead the review and negotiation of applicable privacy and data protection language in agreements with customers and vendors. Monitor regulatory and legislative developments pertaining to fraud and identity verification and support the engagement with key policymakers and stakeholders to influence developments in that space. Provide regular training and updates about privacy, fraud, and identity to the global privacy, legal, business, and sales teams to ensure compliance with emerging laws and regulations. Be an external voice for, speaking at conferences, tradeshows, regulatory meetings, etc.

Qualifications: Law degree required. Membership to a Bar. Any additional qualifications, such as Master of Laws/JD Degree or privacy certification (e.g. CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPT) considered an asset. 6+ years expertise in and track record dealing with global privacy, data protection, and data-related regulatory frameworks, including advice on product development and contract negotiation. Solid knowledge of data protection law, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation and California Consumer Protection Act. Track record of building and leading strong teams. Good understanding of fraud and identity verification technologies and passion for technological advancements in this space. Familiarity with the financial services industry and payment processing is a plus. Superior time management, planning, and organizational skills. Strong analytic capabilities and written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail is a must. Exceptional interpersonal skills with proven experience in relationship building and partnering. Must work well in both team and individual settings. Ability to motivate and influence highly skilled professionals to achieve major organizational goals.
