Senior Associate General Counsel- Litigation Responsibilities: Manage a team of 5 attorneys and 2 paralegals covering litigation, intellectual property, environmental law, and workers compensation. Supervise in-house and outside counsel to closely manage AB's most sensitive and high-stakes matters, including serving on the Crisis Management team, consumer class actions, antitrust litigation, employment disputes, and alcohol policy matters. Advise all internal departments on a wide range of liability and risk management issues potentially impacting AB, its products, and its employees. Develop procedures for compliance with laws and regulations; accountable for providing legal counsel on complex legal issues; and for managing business relationships with outside counsel. Serve as a trusted advisor and clearly establish legal strategies for business operating units to achieve goals. Protect assets of the company and manage a significant budget needs in area of responsibility that can range in the billions of dollars of impact. Engages the team with strong leadership skills and development opportunities.
Qualifications: JD Degree from accredited law school. Licensed to practice law and a member of a state Bar. 10+ years of experience in a corporate law department or law firm, ideally with focus on complex litigation and risk management; some in-house experience preferred. Class action and/or products liability experience required. Ability to distill complex legal issues into practical, actionable legal advice. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate well with others. Consistently able to prioritize and manage a large volume of files. Enthusiast about working as team towards common business goals, values a diversity of practice that consistently stretches and require consistent learning.. Finds solutions to complex problems and expands practice are to meet changing business environment while never taking shortcuts. Excited about learning new technologies, systems and processes.
