Lead Counsel, Privacy Messenger

Lead Counsel, Privacy Messenger Responsibilities: Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in areas of data use and global privacy laws (including state and federal consumer protection and privacy laws, GDPR, LGPD, e-Privacy, and other global privacy laws) and advise on the impact of the same on the Company's business. Work closely with product lawyers in evaluating the practical impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on product features and development. Support members of the Company's product, engineering, legal, security, policy, and other business teams on privacy and security-related legal matters. Develop a regulatory strategy with relevant privacy regulators in connection with new product features and initiatives and maintain the Company's ongoing privacy-by-design processes. Manage internal privacy compliance programs and processes to ensure we meet the obligations under those programs. Help to develop and conduct role-specific privacy training.

Minimum Qualifications: J.D. Degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US State Bar. 5+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house experience. Experience advising on privacy legal risks and mitigations, with strong knowledge of relevant global privacy laws (including CCPA, GDPR, ePD, LGPD, etc.), and/or privacy regulations. Preferred Qualifications: In-house or government experience with applicable privacy, regulatory, or product counseling, particularly at technology, social media, or messaging company. Experience collaborating and advancing projects in a multi-stakeholder environment. Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and making judgments under deadlines. Demonstrated experience to independently, quickly, and accurately assess legal, practical, and business risks, and provide clear guidance. Business judgment and practical client counseling experience.
