Privacy Counsel The candidate will provide support to the Data Protection Officer (DPO) with all data protection matters arising within the company. The development and implementation of the Group Data Privacy and Protection program and countries programs. Collaborating with Security, IT, Legal, Functional owners, and other internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with data protection requirements and company policies. Building necessary compliance steps, policies, guidelines, procedures, tools, and templates. Assessing internal applications and products and services offerings, including in DPIA. Managing privacy incidents: process, incident response, and investigation, data breach notification. Acting as a point of contact on Data Privacy and Protection matters. Performing legal watch and supporting government affairs activities and implementation of new laws. Fostering a data protection culture within the Company and conducting data protection training. Supporting country compliance projects. Coordinating Privacy networks in the region. Responding to law enforcement and regulators as needed. Leading or supporting transversal or cross-country activities and initiatives, e.g.:Security and cybersecurity, M&A and integrations, contracts, training and awareness, and data localization and data transfers.
The candidate must have experience of 5+ years' in data protection compliance and strategy within a technology company, a law firm, a consultancy firm, or a data protection authority in North America and South America countries (USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Costa Rica ). Must have experience in dealing with security matters in privacy, data classification and discovery exercises, investigations, data breach management, and notifications and privacy/ security assessments/audits. Should have relevant education or external accreditation in the areas of law, data protection, security, audit, quality, or risk management. Technical background or solid privacy and security counseling experience is required. Must have high energy, positive, level of integrity and tenacity, and team spirit. Must be technology-driven. Good communication skills in a multi-cultural environment are required. Good ability to network in various environments and matrix organizations is needed. Should have fluency in English (written and spoken) and another language. Must have the ability to translate legal advice into actionable guidance for operational teams.
