Counsel: Commodity Finance Duties: Drafting and negotiation of cross-border commodity financing and trading agreements such as such as master trading agreements, repurchase agreements, secured loans, forward sales, leases, consignments and related agreements. Providing ongoing legal advisory services to sales and trading within U.S. Capital Markets commodities business unit relating to a wide variety of domestic and cross-border trade finance transactions. Responding to new initiatives in a rapidly-growing environment, such as advising on legal and regulatory issues associated with starting new lines of business, adding new products and trading relationships, and implementing new regulations. Advising on applicable CFTC and banking regulations as they are applied in the bank and its US affiliates. Partnering with Compliance and other infrastructure teams to advise on applicable regulations. Representing the bank in industry trade groups supportive of the bank's business interests. Assisting in the preparation of written responses to regulatory inquiries.
Qualifications: JD Degree from an accredited US law school. NY State Bar admission. 5-7 years' experience as counsel in a top law firm, trading firm or US regulatory or self-regulatory organization in financial services. Understanding of U.S. regulatory landscape for coverage area and ability to work with counsel in other jurisdictions on cross-border legal issues. Strong interpersonal skills in order to maintain working relationships. Excellent verbal and writing skills. Relevant regulatory experience or NFA registration is a plus.
