Assistant General Counsel - Privacy The candidate should be an experienced Assistant General Counsel in privacy, information security and data governance to actively handle a broad range of data protection issues across the bank's businesses. Help formulate policies and practices in data governance and privacy matters, including with respect to EU regulations; advise senior business management teams on risks and solutions for products and services; partner with innovation project teams to identify and mitigate risks in emerging technologies; provide advice and guidance to the privacy compliance team. Should have over 10 years of experience practicing in the areas of privacy and data security, including practical experience in an in-house and/or law firm legal environment; experience with a highly regulated industry and with multi-national data matters is preferred. We are looking for an attorney with a deep understanding of the broad set of legal issues arising out of information technology and who is motivated to stay ahead in this rapidly developing area. Should have familiarity with some of the following areas related to financial services such as GLBA, FCRA, CCPA/CPRA and state data privacy and breach notification laws, telecommunications and marketing TCPA, CAN-SPAM act and federal and state marketing laws, medical HIPAA and HITECH, Canada PIPEDA and CASL, EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), E-Privacy Directive/Cookies requirements, Cross-Border Data Transfers including impact of Schrems II decision on international data transfers, and privacy issues related to Offshoring/Outsourcing, Cloud, Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning, Data Ethics, Data Sharing, Data Analytics, Data Aggregators, Mergers& Acquisitions and Privacy by Design. Must have a J.D and license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction, strong academic credentials, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment.
