Legal Counsel Contracts Responsibilities: Provide advice and counsel to business clients on wide array of business and contractual issues while coordinating with other legal team members and stakeholders. Draft, review, negotiate, and work closely with business partners on various agreements in support of strategic initiatives, including software license agreements, service agreements, purchase agreements, and other commercial agreements. Provide general legal support, including in the areas of commercial disputes, transaction structuring and strategy, and other legal issues. Advise executive management and business clients regarding proactive compliance with all requirements in the area of transactional contracts. Assist with compliance and regulatory reporting in identified practice area(s). Represent the company in negotiations, hearings, and other forums. Develop strong partnership with executive management, senior management from other corporate departments, distribution centers, stores and their vendors. Represent all Academy departments and locations on enterprise-level issues both internally and externally. Partner with business clients to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully and maintains confidentiality. Develop standardized processes and procedures for the organization in identified practice area(s). Develop and manage policies and procedures regarding contracts and commercial relationships, including development of appropriate form documents and clauses. Review, recommend and manage outside counsel to represent Academy in legal matters Assist regulatory and compliance programs in identified practice area(s) Manage legal staff, including legal and administrative assistants. Assist with annual budget submissions for transaction or identified practice area(s). Operate within constraints of the financial budget for assigned practice area(s). Identify and develop projects spanning other corporate departments, distribution centers, stores and their vendors. Identify and implement growth strategies and process improvements across multiple areas. Develop a thorough understanding of Academy's policies, procedures and safety rules. Duties may change; team members may be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: JD Degree from an accredited school. Admission to State Bar in at least one State. 5+ years of focused contracts experience with a major law firm or an in-house legal department. Experience with a retail company at least $1 billion in revenue in a corporate environment preferred. Significant experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts. Knowledge of contracts law including the ability to provide sound and practical legal advice Integral part of transaction process where business judgment is as important as legal guidance. Strong legal and contract drafting skills. High level of professionalism, good judgment and initiative. Ability to analyze complex contracts and transactions and propose creative and practical solutions, even in ambiguous situations. Ability to work well under pressure while consistently meeting time sensitive deadlines. Ability to remain organized, pay attention to detail, and meet critical deadlines. Excellent client service skills. Ability to work well independently and efficiently, as well as effectively contribute to a team environment. Strong problem-solving abilities and commercial negotiation skills, including creative conflict resolution. Ability to manage a team and outside counsel as required. Strong supervisory, coaching, and training skills. Strong leadership ability and conflict resolution skills. Strategic planning skills. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with individuals at various levels. Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties.
