Corporate Counsel, Privacy The candidate will be working closely with business leaders, legal teams, and the public policy team to advise on all aspects of global privacy laws and regulations. As a subject-matter expert, helping chart the company's long-term strategy for handling customer information associated with retail operations, online advertising activities, electronic devices, and other business areas, as well as work directly with teams that are building privacy compliance infrastructure and its subsidiaries. Consulting directly with lawyers and business leaders throughout the company and its subsidiaries to help shape the development of innovative new products and services and to implement new or evolving data protection regulations. Working closely with public policy, public relations, and other teams to help explain policies and practices to regulators and customers.

The candidate should have J.D. and membership in good standing in at least one State Bar. Should have 5+ years of legal experience, preferably with some portion of that experience in privacy or regulatory. Should preferably have 2+ years of practice experience focused on issues related to privacy, data protection or related regulatory matters (e.g., data protection regulation such as CCPA, GDPR, or LGPD). Experience directly interacting with privacy and data protection regulators is extremely helpful. Should have a thorough understanding of Internet architecture and related technologies, such as e-commerce, data processing, location-based services and online advertising business models, and the legal and regulatory environment that surrounds them. Should be a team player who works cross-functionally and with a variety of stakeholders (including paralegals, other lawyers, and engineers) cooperatively and efficiently. Should have the ability to manage and exercise sound judgment in mission-critical projects, working independently and often in ambiguous situations, excellent written and verbal communication skills, practical business judgment, common sense, and a good sense of humor.
