Senior Privacy Counsel The candidate will report to a Director of Legal. Will draft, negotiate, and close privacy and data protection agreements with enterprise customers, including customers in highly regulated industries, such as financial services and healthcare. Work closely with global sales and partner teams on transactions that drive the company's revenue. Support commercial attorneys on data protection issues in negotiations. Partner with the security team on security-related issues in negotiations. Work well in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. Maintain an understanding of new and evolving data protection regulations. Develop and deliver training on data protection issues and contract templates. Provide sound advice and guidance on legal and business-related issues to senior business leaders. Support continuous improvements of templates, policies and processes to help streamline, simplify and automate the contracting processes.
The candidate must have 7+ years of commercial legal experience, preferably in-house with a successful, high-growth enterprise SaaS company, with 3+ years of emphasis on privacy and/or security. Excellent negotiation skills with large enterprise customers are needed. Should have knowledge of worldwide data protection regulations, including GDPR and HIPAA. Knowledge of financial services regulations, including GLBA and 23 NYCRR 500, is essential. Working knowledge of SaaS industry cybersecurity concepts and security certifications is a must. Outstanding written and oral communications skills are required. Experience scaling sales and legal processes and policies for a rapidly growing organization is a must.
