Privacy Counsel Duties: Develop, review and update governance framework and supporting internal privacy policies. Collaborate in the design and ongoing update of public-facing privacy policies, standards and procedures. Lead and provide guidance in the identification of global compliance risks, implementation, and maintenance of organizational privacy compliance processes and procedures in coordination with the privacy team, information security, ad policy, internal business units and legal counsel. Conduct and review privacy risk assessments and Data Protection Impact Assessments, if necessary, and provide privacy advice to business leaders. Monitor changes in the tech industry and in privacy and security legislation, carry out analyses on the impact and accordingly suggest changes to our compliance program. Provide training and education on privacy regulations and promote a privacy-focused mindset throughout. Advise and support on launches of new products and services by managing privacy's participation in the product launch calendar and third party review. Support commercial lawyers and business teams in negotiating client and supplier/vendor contracts. Participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing compliance monitoring of third-party vendors and partners to ensure all privacy concerns, requirements, and responsibilities are addressed. Manage engagement with data protection authorities in relation to inquiries, complaints and disputes. Contribute to the review, analysis and response to user complaints concerning the organization's privacy policies, procedures and processes in coordination with legal counsel. Assist with responding to advertising requests for information and data and security partner questionnaires.
Qualifications: Qualified lawyer. Experience could be as a privacy lawyer (in house or private practice), a privacy professional, a privacy technologist and/or in a compliance role. Will have experience working in media/tech/advertising/e-commerce/communications. CIPP, CIPM or similar privacy qualification strongly preferred. In-depth knowledge of US privacy laws is a must. Europe, APAC and LATAM and GDPR and other relevant privacy laws are an advantage. Experience working on IT security issues is preferable. Strong background advising technology companies on privacy risk and mitigation. Team player, able to influence, collaborate, negotiate and solve problems with business partners and expert teams across organizational lines. Strong organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Desire and ability to quickly learn about the activities and specificities of our unique business model, advanced technology capabilities, and evolving regulatory environment. Self-starter, willing to take ownership and drive initiatives to resolution while reporting appropriately on progress made and escalating when difficulties are encountered. Excellent written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing conflicting demands & priorities from multiple business clients, and making sound decisions on tight deadlines.
