Lead Senior Legal Counsel I - Internal Investigation and Litigation Management The candidate will report to the VP and GC, Americas HR, Litigation and Investigations. Will provide strategic legal advice to support the operation, growth and development of the company. Support the organization's legal needs with respect to employment, litigation and compliance, including internal investigations. Manage internal investigations and litigation, including conducting telephonic and in-person witness interviews, email and document review, reviewing and editing legal briefs and attending mediations, settlement conferences, arbitrations and trials as directed by the VP & GC, Americas HR, Litigation and Investigations. Provide legal support for workplace and employment relation matters, including recruitment, regulatory compliance, statutory benefits, performance management, discipline and termination, harassment, discrimination and reduction in force. Work closely with the Legal Department, Human Resources and Business Leaders throughout the company. Manage multiple, complex issues at the same time over various business groups, while maintaining a positive outlook. Work with HR and Business stakeholders to advise on pre-litigation and litigation related matters (assisting with litigation strategy for the Americas). Manage labor and employment related claims in Canada and the US including active participation in mediations, arbitration and litigation. Coordinate subpoena responses and participate in internal discovery activities. Represent the company at ADR proceedings, mediations, settlement conferences, arbitrations and trials as directed by the manager. Conduct internal investigations in conjunction with Internal Audit and Human Resources. Develop and/or review company employment policies, contracts and communications. Deliver legal updates and training to Human Resources and Business Leaders with a view of educating and managing risks across the organization. Oversee global statutory compliance matters. Provide legal support for M&A, corporate reorganizations and restructuring activities. Collaborate with and assist in managing outside counsel. Should have a J.D. degree and excellent academic credentials with membership in at least one State or Provincial Bar. Must have 8+ years of relevant legal experience from a law firm and/or in-house. Trial and investigation experience is required. Expertise in research, evaluation and interpretation of legal issues with a high degree of organization, efficiency and attention to detail is essential.
