Corporate Counsel Duties: Strategically aligning legal programs/risk mitigation by developing an understanding of the intersection of ENAs business model and applicable law. Overseeing/negotiating/developing client/vendor contracts. Researching and counselling on all legal topical areas. Including, without limitation: Litigation, Liquor License, Corporate Governance, Contract Negotiation and Drafting, Intellectual Property Program and Portfolio, Franchise Relationships, Legal Collections Process, Legal Sales Process, Labor Agreements. Building relationships with internal and external business clients through a responsive, collaborative and solution-oriented approach. Collaborating with other functions such as Finance, Human Resources, Procurement, Risk, and Compliance. Partnering with and managing outside counsel. Assists with legal risk mapping and further development of critical legal competencies. Delivers assigned projects within agreed timeframes, providing regular updates on progress and highlighting any challenges to the General Counsel. Is a valued contributor to our segments leadership team and our legal team. Coordinates and delivers legal training to the business as agreed, in line with departmental training schedule. Participates in team meetings to discuss client group needs, works in partnership to establish and meet mutual objectives / activity & promotes existing initiatives. Proactively coordinates with operational teams to support, and where required, anticipates needs. Completes day-to-day duties and project work within set budgets and timelines. Prioritizes workload based on business needs and the potential risk to colleagues and to the business What success looks like:. Effectively influences operational buy-in, drives improvement & works collaboratively with others to deliver positive results. Builds credibility by demonstrating sound knowledge of the law as well as that of the business. Continuously looks for ways to improve, problem-solve & provide tailored solutions to assist in achieving overall planned legal, as well as wider business, objectives. Ensures legal procedures are applied in a fair, consistent, and reasonable yet commercial manner aligned with company policies and guidelines. Demonstrates attention to detail, ensuring all forms of communication are accurate, appropriate & engaging.
Qualifications: JD Degree from an ABA accredited law school. A member in good standing of any state Bar. 1+ years of law firm and/or in-house counsel experience. Able to work on own initiative but retain a strong team player approach being flexible in terms of workload and variety. Must be creative, exercise good judgment, and be a quick decision maker and self-starter. Excellent communicator with ability to solve problems, communicate with and influence stakeholders at all levels. Professional approach in dealing with complex issues with the ability to work with an eye for detail and an appreciation of confidentiality and discretion. Excellent analytical and communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to interact effectively and efficiently with business partners daily and operate with limited supervision. Can engage with a given audience and can demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Focused on delivering outstanding customer service to client's and internal stakeholders and suppliers.
