Counsel (Litigation) Duties: Manages claims, disputes and litigation brought by and against the Company and manages outside counsel, with a particular focus on contractual disputes, EEOC charges, collection matters and/or subpoena responses. Investigates claims and complaints by or against the Company, including interviewing relevant parties and preparing reports based on findings. Maintains current knowledge of the law in areas of special interest to the Company. Conducts legal training sessions and assists in the preparation of training materials for the Company's lines of business. Other job-related duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications: JD Degree with 5+ years of in-house or private practice experience. Member of State Bar in good standing. Trial experience is a plus. Knowledge of employment law, collections, and/or subpoenas is preferred. Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex business documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, memos and legal summaries. Ability to present to small groups. Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees and client groups to take desired action. Requires knowledge of legal terms and principles. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of summary documents and reports. Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations. Requires analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations of significance to the operation. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and set priorities with excellent follow-up skills and organization. Some litigation background helpful, as well as experience in supervising outside counsel and monitoring litigation.
