Senior Intellectual Property Counsel

Senior Intellectual Property Counsel Duties: Develop and maintain company intellectual protections and processes, including patents, trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights, licensing, and research agreements. Assist in developing training materials and providing training to the business on relevant topics such as patents and trademarks. Support the company s Patent Review Committee in the selection of inventions and prosecution of patents. Responsible for pre-patent filing review, providing legal advice to the company concerning the protection of inventions and the advisability of filing patent applications. Provide legal advice and represent the company in matters relating to intellectual property law. Support IP due diligence in M&A transactions. Provide guidance, training, and assistance to the other legal team members as needed. Evaluate third-party claims and conduct potential infringement analyses. Help manager threatened and pending litigation and third-party discovery requests. Negotiate and resolve potential disputes in a pragmatic way. Handle special projects as requested. Qualifications: Strong academic credentials including a J.D. degree and membership in one state Bar. 10+ years combined experience in a well-regarded law firm and/or in-house legal department. Prior in-house legal experience with a global high-tech company preferred. 7-10 years drafting and prosecuting applications. Ability to lead and work on department projects as needed. Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to successfully interact with senior management, and to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal clients. Self-starter with the ability to execute tasks efficiently with sound business judgment and attention to detail. Excellent legal and business judgment. Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail.
