Sustainability Environmental Counsel The candidate will advise on complex environmental compliance issues, sometimes with other specialist lawyers and compliance professionals. You may be called on to advice on existing or evolving regulation across the full range of sustainability measures which may include laws regulating materials used in hardware, chemicals products (inks, toners and 3D supplies), take-back, eco-design, waste, responsible sourcing, modern slavery, climate reporting, US CERCLA, US OSHA and responsible marketing. Will assist in policy development. Assist in advocacy. Exercise significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine the best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. Develop and implement effective tools, processes, and training materials. Represent HP in negotiations with regulators. Lead efforts to assess risk in marketing messaging and customer communications and participate as part of the team on strategic advertising campaigns. Support sustainability aspects of sales pursuits with key customers, including direct negotiations. Assist in due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
The candidate should have advanced university degree in law (JD, LLM or equivalent) with excellent academic credentials. Must be licensed in the relevant jurisdiction as a lawyer, in house lawyer, solicitor or the equivalent. Must have 10 years qualified, with at least 6 years of experience advising clients on a core set of sustainability laws (expertise in all sustainability laws around the world is not realistic nor it is expected). Must have outstanding communication skills and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with clients. Experience with litigation, even if not in the environmental area is desired. Experience reviewing and negotiating sales or distribution agreements is preferred. Expertise on advertising law is a plus. Human rights expertise is desired.
