Associate Corporate Counsel The candidate will draft, negotiate and manage a wide variety of commercial contracts, including commercial sales, and vendor contracts. Manage, streamline and automate contract negotiation process; Assist in the administration of Aventri's legal workflow for intaking, assigning, and managing commercial agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and other legal requests from internal clients. Review and negotiate data processing agreements, refine privacy policies, and help develop internal compliance processes. Develop and refine standardized template agreements and legal policies to address the evolving needs of a growing organization. Demonstrate a keen ability to issue-spot sensitive legal and business concerns, including a strong sense of when to escalate such matters to internal partners, and proactively propose solutions. Work closely with internal clients from all business areas on ad-hoc projects; as needed, support their objectives and advise on legal risks and opportunities related to their strategy and business goal.
The candidate should have a J.D. with strong academic credentials. Should have 4 years of experience at a top law firm and in-house practice (with a strong preference for start-up companies in the technology or SaaS space). Demonstrated ability in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts; strong working background in software/SaaS agreements. Familiarity with relevant privacy regulations (including GDPR, CCPA). Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues in an easily accessible manner. Practical business acumen, driving pragmatic business-oriented solutions. A highly approachable, collegial, and collaborative style, aiming to achieve buy-in from diverse constituencies. An accountable and proactive self-starter, comfortable working independently and remotely with global colleagues. A strong team player, with an ego-free willingness to pitch in and support colleagues (no job is too small or too large). Superb organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once. Enjoy working in a fast-paced, disruptive business. Member in good standing of the CT or comparable State Bar.
