Labor & Employment Counsel The candidate will provide balanced and practical advice to the People Team on day-to-day global employment matters across the employee lifecycle, ranging from recruiting, hiring, compensation, wage and hour laws, performance management and discipline, employee relations, immigration, international assignments, litigation, accommodations and leaves of absence, terminations, etc. Draft and maintain global employment documents and policies, including offer letters/employment agreements, separation agreements, disciplinary letters, handbooks, code of conduct, bonus plans, compensation guidelines, summary plan descriptions and severance programs. Create and deliver training related to employment law matters, such as harassment training and other manager training on a variety of topics. Manage and drive strategy on pre-litigation and litigation matters. Monitor legal and policy developments relevant to employment law and translate those developments into practical steps for the Company to implement. Leverage best practices and identify opportunities for efficiencies and process improvements within the company.

The candidate should have a JD with 5+ years of relevant experience at a law firm or in-house (in-house experience preferred but not required). Proven specialization and expertise in US labor and employment laws (preferably expertise in IL or CA laws) (experience with non-US jurisdictions preferred, but not required). Significant experience counseling on issues spanning the employee lifecycle (prior employment litigation experience preferred, but not required). Demonstrated startup initiative ability to self-manage, find creative ways to work through barriers, actively learn necessary skills, and manage projects to completion with minimal supervision. Excellent written, oral, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills. Must be admitted and in good standing in any US jurisdiction with a preference for those admitted in Illinois, California, or New York.
