Director, Legal Counsel - Privacy And Cybersecurity

Director, Legal Counsel - Privacy and Cybersecurity The candidate will be understanding, monitoring, and advising on domestic and international data privacy and security laws. Collaborating closely with risk and compliance personnel to identify and implement standard methodologies for compliance with those laws. Working with information security and other company personnel to maintain effective incident response protocols and to counsel the company on incident preparation and response. Identifying new and ongoing ways to support and improve the company's compliance program as it relates to data collection, use and protection that is, good at observing and educating on existing regulatory requirements and standard methodologies while anticipating and re future regulatory changes. Counseling business, compliance and risk management executives, and product, engineering and data analytics teams and communicating with other members of the Legal department on global privacy requirements and privacy risk mitigation measures in connection with the introduction of new products and services, including the completion of data privacy impact assessments. Leading and/or supporting new initiatives as needed e.g., initiatives sought at aligning existing and future company practices with GDPR, CCPA, and other foreign and domestic data privacy and protection requirements; data mapping and retention; training and education; third-party relationships; and others. The candidate should have a J.D., admitted to any State Bar. Should have 6-8 years of combined legal experience at a global firm and/or in-house legal department of a technology company. Experience counseling on global and domestic privacy law regimes (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and with assessing, developing and maintaining applicable practices, policies and procedures. Experience managing, responding to and preparing for data security incidents with cross-functional teams and third-party partners. Experience drafting and negotiating data privacy and protection provisions within third-party agreements. An entrepreneurial mentality and ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships. A desire to boldly grow the role and respond quickly to internal constituents. Executive presence, including the temperament to interface directly with senior leadership. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a passion for educating business teams on privacy and security issues.
