Corporate Counsel - Franchise Law Duties: Will be reporting to the General Counsel and be based in our corporate headquarters. Will have franchise law experience and will specifically focus on the various state dealer statutes. Will be responsible for advising and supporting the US and Canada businesses on all aspects of the retailer network. The role will closely partner with the relevant business teams to address the shifting state dealer statute landscape and provide business-practical counsel and guidance. Provide legal support and counsel on all U.S. and Canadian dealer network issues from litigation to contract drafting and negotiation. Provide counsel on retailer programs, policies, and procedures based on applicable dealer statutes. Draft and review various commercial contracts (including service provider agreements and other supplier agreements, data protection/data sharing agreements, confidentiality agreements, etc.). Refining of existing policies and practices. Manage litigation as needed for all business areas. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications: Must have a bachelor's degree and a JD from an accredited law school. Must be a member of the bar in a US state in good standing. 7+ years of experience in franchise or distribution law is essential. Previous experience with state dealer statutes is a plus. Prior in-house legal experience is preferred but not required. An outstanding collaborator who can manage multiple tasks and work across various functions. Ability to work well with a small, tightly knit legal team and desire to seek responsibility and work autonomously. Must have the ability to juggle different legal areas and projects and to prioritize tasks, while planning and accomplishing objectives in a timely manner. Must remain flexible to respond to the changing business requirements and must perform tasks in a hands-on manner with minimal oversight and reliance upon outside counsel. Must have excellent judgment to resolve complex issues efficiently and effectively, as well as demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Must be comfortable presenting and interacting with all levels of the organization.
