Counsel, Commercial and Compliance Duties: Provides day-to-day legal support to the business. Structures, drafts, and negotiates a high volume of commercial agreements (e.g., supply, distribution, professional services, SAAS, development), both independently and in collaboration with the General Counsel. Partnering with Commercial, develops contract negotiation strategies. Manages and maintains contracts management database. Creates and implements processes for managing the steady flow of agreements, including processes for determining regulatory, intellectual property, and other requirements in such agreements; improves our legal processes to enable continued global growth. Develops and conducts education for internal stakeholders on contract terms, commercial implications, and risk mitigation. Compliance Advises the business on compliance matters. In collaboration with the General Counsel, develops, implements, and sustains compliance policies, processes, and education programs. Understands the implications of current and forthcoming compliance requirements in the markets Neogen serves and distills this information into succinct and actionable advice. Develops compliance strategies that incorporate risk identification and mitigation. Ensures compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines and requirements and communicates potential risks. Partners with Company's Research & Development, Commercial, Operations, and Regulatory teams regarding commercial, compliance, and regulatory issues associated with existing or new products and markets. Maintains awareness of new and developing legislation, policy, and laws relating to agriculture, food processing, and companion animal industries and communicates developments as appropriate.

Qualifications: JD Degree or equivalent law degree and ability to practice in law in the state. 3+ years post-qualification experience, including at least two years at a law firm. Experience working in a technology sector and highly regulated industries, including EPA, USDA, FDA a plus. Extensive experience drafting, redlining, and negotiating commercial contracts. Demonstrated experience with global compliance matters. Excellent problem-solving skills, judgment, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to provide quick, pragmatic, business-oriented advice while properly balancing business opportunity and legal/compliance risks. Versatile, flexible, self-starter who takes ownership, takes accountability, and admits and learns from mistakes. Ability to manage workloads, multiple demands, and shifting priorities. Ability to work autonomously and also collaboratively with internal and external colleagues and multi-cultural teams. Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, rapidly-growing business with rapidly changing priorities. Desire to grow, learn, expand skill set, and enthusiastically try new things.
