Associate General Counsel, Intellectual Property

Associate General Counsel, Intellectual Property Duties: Partner with almost every Engineering and Operations team to harvest, protect, and commercialize intellectual property arising from those teams roadmaps and work. Manage and strengthen entire intellectual property portfolio, including its patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Draft patent claims and work closely and strategically with external intellectual property counsel to draft and file patent applications. Develop and implement internal policies and trainings centered on the identification and protection of intellectual property and confidential information. Develop programs that protect confidential information and trade secrets. Manage patent litigation or other intellectual property disputes. Assess, negotiate, and draft intellectual property licenses and other provisions in connection with customer and supplier agreements. Advise on engagements with academic institutions and the publication of technology in academic journals. Build thoughtful, business-friendly processes around use and licensing of free and open source software. Support other parts of the Legal, Regulatory, and External Affairs Team with issues involving technology and be able to speak confidently and knowledgeably about technology in lay and legal terms. Develop a deep understanding of the industry that operates in to promote and maintain position as a global leader in autonomous aerial logistics.

Qualifications: JD Degree. B.S., M.S., and/or a PhD in an engineering discipline. Member in good standing of at least one state bar. Registered as an attorney before the USPTO. 5+ years of intellectual property law experience (at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house).
