Vice President - Senior Counsel, Privacy

Vice President - Senior Counsel, Privacy Duties: Support the design and implementation of an enterprise privacy program. Participate in data mapping and privacy impact assessments that involving significant engagement with the Bank's numerous business units. Support privacy-related escalations from the Bank's vendor contract review team; Assist with incident management. Develop and deliver training and awareness materials. Advise business units (e.g., digital banking, marketing, HR) on applicable privacy laws and regulations as well as privacy-by-design principles. Design and report on privacy program KPIs. Review and contribute to relevant Bank policies and procedures. Support compliance remediation efforts. Stay current with emerging privacy laws. Effectively engage with colleagues and senior leadership. Undertake other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: JD degree from an accredited law school. License to practice in New York or a willingness to register in New York as in-house counsel. 5+ years of relevant legal and operational privacy experience. Ability to analyze and operationalize relevant privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GLBA, NYS DFS 23 NYCRR Part 500, U.S. state privacy laws). Experience drafting and negotiating complex data protection agreements with third-parties. Familiarity with using privacy compliance software for data mapping and privacy impact assessments. Experience applying privacy-by-design principles. Excellent legal research and issue spotting skills. Ability to navigate challenges with a solutions-oriented approach. Sound legal and commercial judgment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to take initiative, work independently, and be responsive. Strong and reliable attention to detail. Additional Skills: CIPP, CIPM, or comparable privacy certifications or distinctions. Comfort with and knowledge of common enterprise technologies (e.g., cloud solutions, on-premises hardware, website cookies and trackers). Exposure to information security and data governance principles and practices. Familiarity with digital advertising and associated privacy considerations.
