Tax Attorney Duties: Communicating with the IRS and other State Tax agencies. Negotiate garnishments and levies releases based on documentation available in the case file. Manage assigned client pipeline and correspondence with the collection arm of the IRS an/or State income tax authorities. Prepare detailed financial statements using company software for case files. Using financial statements and taxpayer circumstances to provide temporary or permanent relief for past due tax federal and/or state tax liabilities. Notify and direct the processing department with current case status update to keep resolutions moving forward. Provide guidance to case managers and other processing department personnel on advising clients of their final resolutions and how to avoid future tax issues. Prepare, review, and submit Offers in Compromise documents to the Centralized Offer in Compromise Unit with the IRS. Negotiate installment Agreements, Currently Non-Collectible hardships, Penalty Abatements, and collections holds for taxpayers. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications: Must be a licensed Attorney (any state). Must have 1+ years experience working with tax resolutions; advanced education may be a substitute for experience. Strong analytical and mathematical skills. Strong tax preparation experience and extensive knowledge of both federal and state tax law. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Remain focused and productive in a fast-paced work environment. Solves problems while ensuring rules and directions are followed. Bilingual is a plus. Retain records and tax information of clients confidential. Keeping confidential records and tax information for clients. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in related field.
