Assistant Corporate Counsel Duties: Provides accurate, relevant, and timely advice to management and other members of staff on a variety of legal topics that relate to the business sector and their products or services. Handles legal inquiries from within the Company. Provides advice and guidance on issues of corporate governance, as requested. Drafts, reviews, and negotiates complicated commercial agreements, employment and consulting agreements, engagement letters, confidentiality agreements, and other business documents, as requested. Drafts and revises correspondence and other legal documents. Assists with compliance monitoring for the legal department or other business units as requested. Communicates with and manages third party relationships such as with external counsel or government officials. Assists with performing legal research and drafting memoranda, as needed. Assist with reporting department metrics.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field is required. JD Degree is required. Must be a member of a State Bar. 2+ years of previous experience in a corporate legal department in a similar role is required. Proficiency using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook is required. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Must have the ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines. Must have knowledge of negotiation best practices, both in-person and in written form. Must demonstrate a high degree of attention to quality, details, and correctness. Must have the ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
