Labor & Employment Attorney The candidate will provide proactive legal services, supporting Labor & Employment matters, risk management, and negotiation and settlement of disputed matters. Counsel California and Nevada HR partners on employment matters, and handle union grievance arbitrations. Work with senior lawyers and management to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach to legal issues and assure that efficiencies and synergies are in place. Familiarity with judicial and administrative proceedings to assist with overseeing and working with outside counsel. Being adaptive and able to work within a fast-paced and challenging environment to support varied business lines and to collaborate with the broader in-house legal team on significant legal issues.

The candidate should have a J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member in good standing of the California Bar. Nevada licensure is also preferable in order to work across jurisdictions. Should have 5+ years of experience handling employment cases and arbitration including wrongful termination, discrimination and wage and hour matters, and have had first-chair experience handling employment jury and/or court trials. Traditional labor law experience, including collective bargaining experience, is a strong plus. Business litigators with first-chair trial experience, particularly in employment cases, will also be considered. Experience managing union grievance arbitration is required. A confident, dynamic and personable individual who is able to influence senior executives and stakeholders with an ability to understand business strategies and to communicate at all levels in the organization and build strong internal and external relationships. Demonstrate effective written and oral communications and have strong negotiation skills and strategic acumen. Must be able to work and lead autonomously on deals with minimal supervision, juggle priorities and deadlines, and have credible experience of doing so. Willingness to travel primarily between California, Nevada, and Arizona. Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
